used to be able to insert a CD-ROM into the D drive (CD drive) and it would automatically start. Now the CD won't run. When I go to start/run/D: it says "D: The device is not ready". There is a connection because the light will flash a few times but nothing will run. Please help! I need to run this CD tonight!

Do a "urpmi hdparm" to install the package (a small one ...) from NDK9-CD if not yet there, then "man hdparm" and try to get status info from your drive. If necessary, change dma or 32-bit modes. I know it's not the diskettes, I've used different ones. Could it be a hardware problem, like not compatible? It's a Susumi drive. That doesn't really make sense, unless there is a minor problem with BOTH the CD drive AND the CD disc.
