The symptoms are; When a CD is inserted all the other devices work normally. If I then click on the CD icon teh following error pops up: "Undefined instrcution at &03BFFF90" and the icon disappears. Other filing type things like the hard drive will then allow me to open directories, but not files.

I am having a problem with my almost new Sony 48x CD drive. It works fine for opening files or playing audio CD's but if I try to make a backup copy of a data CD, using Adaptec Easy CD Creator, I constantly get messages that it was not possible to transfer the file, with an option to retry.

I checked, and it's a Fujifilm CD-R disc, silver in color. Hmmm... I thought the Fujis were supposed to have fairly high reflectivity. It'd still be worth trying another brand (as I said, I've had good luck with the Verbatims), but I'm not so sure that'll help. Should I consider buying a new CD drive... Maybe.
